How to Develop a Better Daily Routine

Developing a good, healthy daily routine is essential for keeping your energy levels high, but that doesn’t mean that it’s going to be easy. The key is to find out what works for you and your body, and implement those practices every day. This blog post is here to help you create a daily routine that works, and to make sure you stick to it so that you’ll never struggle to get through the day again.

What is a Routine?

A routine is a sequence of actions that you perform repeatedly, whether that’s coming home from work and sticking Netflix on, or waking up at 7am and going on a run. Not all routines are good routines, so it’s important to make sure you work on developing good routines to ensure that you are being as good to your body as you can be.

Developing a Better Daily Routine

Creating a good daily routine isn’t something that will happen overnight. It will take time to understand what works for you, and there will be times that your routine might fall out of step due to changes in your lifestyle. When you start to work on developing a better daily routine, you will need to be honest about what’s reasonable depending on your lifestyle and your time management skills, otherwise you run the risk of overwhelming yourself.

 1. Structure Your Day

One of the key aspects of building a better daily routine is to structure your day correctly. For example, you could get your exercise done in the morning before preparing breakfast and feeding your pets, or you could take fifteen minutes to meditate before starting the day, to get yourself in the right mindset for the day ahead. Make sure to get in the habit of taking your jrny shake in the morning, too, as this will allow you to maintain your energy levels throughout the day. It might also help to find alternatives to coffee or other, natural energy boosters.

When it comes to midday, we often start to feel a bit tired, although by building a routine that incorporates our morning jrny shake, you will be helping yourself to avoid this. You can use this time to complete tasks that don’t require as much energy, before having lunch to refuel and build your energy back up.

In the evening, make time to plan for the next day. Get your clothes ready, cook your lunch to take to work the next day, and take time to develop a good bedtime routine. A top tip is to not look at screens for an hour before going to sleep, and to swap the screens for a book or something calming like yoga, to make sure you’re in the right mindset to sleep well.

2. Create a Schedule for the Day

Schedules and to-do lists aren’t for everyone, but they do help to build a good daily routine, as they allow you to schedule in time for each of your regular tasks. Consider mapping out your day, starting from the time you wake up right through to the time you go to bed, so that you know how much time you should spend on each task throughout the day. This will help you to manage your time better, which will ultimately help you to stick to your new routine.

3. Set Yourself Small Goals

When you’re thinking about what you want to accomplish each day, start by breaking up each bigger task into smaller goals to make them feel more achievable. For example, if you want to be ready by 8am each day, then break that down into having brushed your teeth by 7:15am, having showered by 7:30am, being dressed by 7:40am, etc. By doing this, you’ll soon start to get used to these small habits, and they will eventually build into a solid daily routine.

4. Don’t Be Too Hard on Yourself - Allow for Some Flexibility

It’s important not to be too hard on yourself when working on building a better daily routine, as if it feels like you’re being forced to stick to it, then you’re far less likely to keep at it. Life can get in the way, and that’s completely fine! One way around this is to schedule in some free time each day, so that if any unexpected tasks or appointments pop up, your routine isn’t too thrown off. This will allow you to make your routine work for you, without having to stress about not having got the things you wanted to do done.

5. Remember to Be Consistent

Consistency is key when it comes to building a better daily routine. After all, that’s what routines are all about! Try and do the same things at the same time every day, and make sure your schedule is set out in line with when you have more energy. If you are more energetic in the mornings, then aim to get the most done during that period each day, as this will help you to stay motivated throughout the day.


Building a better daily routine doesn’t have to be difficult. You just need to break it down into manageable chunks and keep working on it until it becomes second nature to you. You’ll be amazed by the benefits it has for your energy levels once you’ve established a positive, healthy daily routine!
